The social season here runs from November through April, which means the shoulder months on either side are much calmer — and September is the quietest of the lot. School is back, the winter crowd has not arrived, and the beach in front of the residence is close to your own. The ocean, meanwhile, is at its warmest of the year, often around eighty-five degrees, so the swimming is superb. For a certain kind of traveler — someone who wants the balcony, the spa and long empty stretches of sand without the season's bustle — it is the best-value week on the calendar.
The storm-season caveat
The reason it is quiet is worth saying: September is the peak of Atlantic hurricane season. Most Septembers pass with nothing more than an afternoon downpour, and the residence is a modern high-rise built to Florida's strict coastal code — but storms do form, and the sensible move is to watch the forecast in the week before you travel, consider travel insurance, and keep your plans flexible.
